Dear Parents and Carers,

URGENT APPEAL FOR STEM CELL DONORS

One of our Reception children who has been with us since Nursery, Esha Nadeswaran, sister of Ria in Y5 Juniors, is in desperate need of our help.

In May of this year Esha was diagnosed with acute myloid leukaemia. She has been incredibly brave, undergoing two cycles of intensive chemotherapy, but this has been ineffective.  Great Ormond Street have said that she needs to find a stem cell donor in the next couple of weeks to save her life.

We are appealing to all our parents and carers (and the wider school community) to be tested to see if they are a suitable match for Esha.

A Covid-safe testing station will be set up on Thursday 9 September from 3.30pm-9.00pm in the Infants’ School main playground (Lord Avenue entrance) to carry out a simple cheek swab test to check for a match.

There will be another testing opportunity on Thursday 16 September from 3.30pm-9.00pm at the same location. The donation procedure is non-invasive, safe and involves only a small temporary discomfort.

Esha’s parents have created a specific page for Esha on the official donation website, where you can register to test and donate. They have also set up a Facebook page to advise of future testing opportunities. If you cannot make the date for testing, please register on the website and a testing kit will be sent to you. Please spread the word to your family and friends:
