MEND (Mind, Exercise, Nutrition...Do it!) is an organisation dedicated to reducing global childhood and family overweight and obesity levels.
Together with our partners, we offer free local healthy living programmes to families: the MEND Programme for 7-13 year olds who are above a healthy weight and the MEND Programme for 5-7s, which both involve parents or carers and the Mini-MEND Programme for 2-4 year olds and their families, whatever their weight. We also offer training courses for people who come into contact with overweight children in order that they can provide the best possible support.
Obesity causes needless suffering, as well as massive financial and social consequences. But it can be prevented and treated. Thousands of families have proved this through our life-changing programmes.
The programme consists of 18 sessions (twice a week for 2 hours per session). Programme highlights include:
- weekly games, activities and swimming for kids
- learning that being active can be lots of fun
- fun interactive discussion that will teach you easy, effective ways to improve your childs behaviour and improve self confidence
- practical demonstrations, games, and tips about healthy foods, labels reading and portion sizes
This programme is free to attend, however we will need to assess whether your child qualifies based on their age, weight and health. Places are limited so make sure you ring today!
