- Overview
I give all children in my care the opportunity to reach their full potential. Sometimes this means adapting an activity to the child’s ability and stage of development, providing additional resources or giving one child more attention and support than others during a particular activity or routine.
We live in a detached house and the downstairs is entirely used for childminding. We have a fairly good size garden which backs onto the local park, accessible via a gate (properly padlocked for safety).
We do not have a dedicated sensory room but we have a lot of sensory resources / equipment which is regularly used.
- Identifying children's needs
We monitor each child's development very closely and discuss any concerns with parents, giving them information about where to go for professional advice if required, or agree on strategies to deal with the issues we may be presented with. I work closely with the Local Authority Childminding Development Officer and SEN Advisor when a child is indentified with special educational needs as they have suitable strategies to provide support.

- Accessibility of the school
At present we do not have any extra facilities as we have no children who require them. We are however prepared to make changes or adapt our setting to the specific needs.
- Inclusion
Activities are planned and organised, following a risk assessment, according to children abilities and needs.
- Transition arrangements
I will discuss any transition with parents in advance and plan how I can support their child to make the change. I can provide activities linked to the transition and offer emotional support when needed
I will make every effort, with parental agreement, to link with the new setting planning and activities with my own to support the child’s learning and provide them with any information that may help the teacher or nursery staff settle the child in.
