Early Intervention Foundation

We champion and support the use of effective early intervention to improve the lives of children and young people at risk of experiencing poor outcomes.

The Race Equality Foundation (REF) and Action for Children have partnered up to create SpeakOut, a safe space for Black, Asian and minority ethnic groups to share their experiences on seeking support for their family.

Our research looks at lots of different issues, from health to education to justice. Across all of these areas, there are large and worrying inequalities in the outcomes experienced by minority ethnic groups. We also know that good family support can help to address many of these issues before they become more serious concerns in a young person’s life. It is vital that family support services can support all families, from all ethnic backgrounds, to reduce these risks to young people’s lives. But as a country, we don’t know enough about what effective family support looks like, especially for minority ethnic families.

We believe that every family should be able to get the support they need, when they need it, no matter their background. SpeakOut wants to hear from young people and parents from Black, Asian and minority ethnic families on how easy it is to find the help they need, if the help is right for them, and how things could be made better.

We will do this through a short survey for young people and families, and we are very excited to let you know that this survey is now live! We would be very grateful if you could share the survey with children, young people and families you work with, as well as colleagues and anyone else you think would be interested in sharing their experience?

We will also be holding an online event at the start of February to discuss the inequality in outcomes  and hear directly from young people; you can sign up to the webinar here
