Street Pastors are members of the Church with a concern for society, in particular young people who may feel excluded and marginalised. They are individuals who give up their time to engage with people on the streets and in pubs and clubs in town centre areas.
Redbridge Street Pastors are an inter-denominational church team. We add extra eyes and ears in our community and are individuals who care about what happens in our society. Volunteer Street Pastors are willing to engage with local people and will look at ways to resolve any issues by liaising with the church, local community leaders and with partner agencies.
We hope to build up trust and earn credibility by listening, caring and helping people on our streets in a practical, unconditional way. We form a key part of the far-reaching work already in place to ensure crime and disorder in Ilford and South Woodford remains low, for the benefit of residents and visitors alike.
This work, which also includes strong partnerships with businesses and licensed premises, taxi marshals, CCTV and more, is particularly important to the sustainability of a safer late night community.
