Joseph Clarke School for the Visually Impaired

Joseph Clarke is a special school for children aged 2 to 19. There is an advisory service based at the school which covers children from newborn to students in further education.
The advisory service consists of a team of specialist teachers and mobility officers who work with and offer educational advice to young people with visual impairments and their parents/carers. The service is supportive of inclusive education whilst responding to individual needs.
The advisory service can assist parents and carers in developing programmes to stimulate and enhance their child's use of vision or compensate for lack of vision. The mobility officer provides mobility training and assists in developing self help skills and independence. Sighted guide training can also be given to parents and other professionals.
