Safeguarding children - guidance for childcare providers

If you are a childcare provider and have concerns about a child and need to make a referral you will need to contact the Child Protection Assessment Team (CPAT) using the following details:

• Telephone: 020 8708 3885

You will need to explain that you have a child protection concern and they will deal with your call as appropriate. Take the details of the person you speak to. Please have the details of the child you are calling about ready, i.e. full name; date of birth; address; family name and contact details; GP. 

The above team will be available Monday to Friday - 9.00am to 5.00pm. If you need to report a concern outside of these hours you can contact the out of hours service on 020 8590 2855, or the Emergency Duty Team on 020 8708 3885.

Please remember you also need to have a written procedure stating how you safeguard the children in your care and must have a copy of the latest London Child Protection Procedures.
