ADFAM (Families, Drugs and Alcohol)

Families can play a vital role in educating children about drugs and alcohol. However a lack of information and the fear of "saying the wrong thing" can prevent these discussions from taking place. Families need information about drugs and alcohol in general, and how to cope when drug and alcohol use becomes a problem.

Adfam works in a variety of ways to help families deal with these issues.

They also run a project for older people (55+) living in London who are affected by someone else’s drug or alcohol use. Including:

  • a monthly peer support group (some with a trained counsellor) where people offer one another practical and emotional advice, help and support in a friendly and non-judgemental environment
  • regular information and skills sessions on topics such as The Care Act or mindfulness
  • regular trips and excursions - a chance for the group to relax, socialise and take some time for themselves.
