Overview

An overview of the school

Glade Primary School is a community school for children from the ages of 3-11. We are a two form entry school with provision for 60 children within each year group. We have a range of special resources for pupils with SEND including a Sensory room, Sensory garden, Learning Zone and Nurture classroom.

Identifying children's needs

Identifying pupil’s additional needs

At Glade Primary, we track the progress of all pupils throughout the year. Through this, we are able to ensure early identification of any pupil that may need additional help. All staff are trained in the identification process and are aware of the processes to follow. One of the earliest stages of the identification process is liaison with the parents. Should support then be considered appropriate, measures are put in place and parents are involved throughout. This includes input within the target setting, review and provision in place.

Dedicated contacts

Dedicated contacts at the school

Should parents have any initial questions or concerns about their child’s development or SEND, they should initially contact the class teacher. Following on from this, they can then contact the Inclusion Lead (Miss Aasiya Hussain) at Parentsenco@glade.redbridge.sch.uk

Risk assessments, additional support in put into place where appropriate. This can be for the purposes of trips, experiences or to navigate the school day if needed. Parents are informed and updated throughout

Transition arrangements

Starting or changing schools

We recognise that transitions can be difficult for a child with SEND and take steps to ensure that any transition is as smooth as possible.

If your child is moving to another school: We will contact the school SENDCO and ensure he/she knows about any special arrangements or support that need to be made for your child. We will make sure that all records about your child are passed on as soon as possible.

When moving classes in school: Information will be passed on to the new class teacher in advance. A planning meeting will take place with the new teacher. All Pupil Passports and information will be shared with the new teacher. If your child would be helped by a book to support their understanding of moving on, they will be involved in the process of making one.

In Year 6: Where possible your child will visit their new school on several occasions and in some cases staff from the new school will visit your child in this school. They will also attend the Primary Transition Day with their classmates. Meetings will be arranged with the relevant staff to discuss the specific needs of the child.
