Resolution (family law)

Resolution's family lawyers are committed to the constructive resolution of family disputes. Members follow a Code of Practice that promotes a non-confrontational approach to family problems. Members encourage solutions that consider the needs of the whole family - and in particular the best interests of children.

When facing divorce, separation, domestic abuse or other family difficulties, the right advice and support is essential from skilled professionals who are experienced at resolving the kind of disputes that arise when couples separate.

If you are a separating parent you will find it helpful to visit the Parenting after Parting page where you can download their guide Separation and Divorce - Helping parents to help children.Written by renowned parenting expert Christina McGhee, on behalf of Resolution, this book covers a range of topics about the separation process as well as information about how children are affected and can be helped.

You will also find details of their A2-sized chart that is aimed at children aged four to nine and is based around a two-week-to-view calendar. It comes with two different coloured dry-wipe pens so that children can see at a glance which parent they are seeing on a particular day. It includes space for writing reminders of things to tell or take to their other parent's house and special dates to remember.

You will find answers to some of the more commonly asked questions, but family law is complex and just as families come in all shapes and sizes there is rarely a 'one size fits all' answer. A trusted lawyer can play a big role in helping to sort out what can often be complex issues.
