Overview

Our staff at Be Babies are committed to supporting and meeting the needs of all children. All our children are treated as individuals, regardless of their needs or disability. We welcome children with SEN and/or disabilities and from every social, cultural and religious background. All our practitioners are experienced in working with parents/carers and their children along with outside agencies in order to provide the best possible outcomes for all.

Be Babies Kindergarten has been open since 2013. We operate from a church hall which has a main hall and has an additional smaller room we use for quieter activities. We have an outside area which recently has had new soft flooring. The kindergarten is open from 9.00pm to 12.00pm five mornings a week, term time only.

Our setting has a nominated safeguarding officer and SENCOo. Our setting is on one level and we adapt the surroundings as much as possible to accommodate each child’s individual needs.

Identifying children's needs

At Be Babies all our staff work closely with our experienced SENCo to identify from an early stage if a child needs extra support; through regular observations, staff meetings and regular communication with parent/carers.

Measuring children's progress

At Be Babies we use "Individual Outcome Plans" (IOPs) to monitor the child's progress, recording it in the learning journals. Suitable targets are agreed with parents and any other professionals involved. Children's progress is monitored on an ongoing basis through observation and assessment. Regular meetings with parents are organised to agree palns for the further development.

Support and training for school staff

At Be Babies our SENCo attends regular SENCo forums which helps us keep up to date with changes in practice; we are given support from Redbridge SEN/Inclusion advisors. All our staff are given the opportunity to attend courses and training to develop their practice.

Accessibility of the school

Our setting is located on one level and there is a ramp to access the main hall. We have soft flooring in our garden. We have disabled toilet facilities.

Inclusion

At Be Babies our aim is promote equality and diversity. All of our activities are planned to ensure that all children can take part and are adapted to suit their needs. Daily risk assessments are done to ensure the environment is risk free, reviewed and adapted for children with SEN.

Transition arrangements

Our setting will work with parents and their new school to agree strategies that will provide the support that the child needs during transition times. This could be a transition meeting with the professionals involved or accompanying families on visits to the new settings providing support and information.
