Special Needs School Nursing | Redbridge NELFT

The special needs school nursing service provides specialist and holistic care for children with special needs in Special School and support for their families and carers. Specialist paediatric nurses and other staff provide support in a school/ educational environment to support every child to reach their full potential.

We focus on early intervention and prevention, as well as promoting wellbeing to support every child to reach their full potential. A holistic approach is taken to ensure individual personalised care for children/young people and support for their families and carers.

Newbridge Special School has a primary and secondary campus:

  • Nokwazi Kumalo is the School Nurse based at Gresham Drive Campus, 161 Gresham Drive, Chadwell Heath RM6 4TR. Children aged 3 – 11 years have moderate to profound difficulties including complex medical needs, life limiting and life threatening conditions.
  • Carol Gentle is the School Nurse based at Barley Lane Campus, 258 Barley Lane, Goodmayes IG3 8XS. Young people aged 11 – 19 years have moderate to profound difficulties including complex medical needs, life limiting and life threatening conditions.
  • Elaine Thompson is the School Nurse based at Grovelands, Grove Road, Chadwell Heath, RM6 4XH. Children/young people on role at Hatton, Little Heath and New Rush Hall Schools and the Beacon Communication School.
