Childcare Sufficiency Assessment 2016

The Childcare Act 2006 places a duty on all Local Authorities to make an assessment of childcare sufficiency on an annual basis (from 2014). It is one of a number of duties that Local Authorities have that aim to make life better for families.

Ensuring that there is enough childcare can help parents to balance their work and family responsibilities. We know that good pre-school childcare also gives children a flying start and can help them to do better at school. Out of school childcare means that parents who are working know that their child is in a safe place and helps children to take part in activities that enable them to build on their knowledge and skills and have fun with their friends.
