- Overview
We all work together to support any children with SEND and I believe I do not discriminate any children with disabilities. I have previously had children in my setting with SEND.
I have a childminding setting which isn’t very big but we use two medium size rooms to accommodate the children. I do not have a special unit but I do store lots of sensory toys and flash cards and posters for those children that may need them.
- Identifying children's needs
I will monitor their progress and if I feel the child may need additional help I contact the local SENCo officer who will come and monitor the child’s progress and give me advice on how to deal with any SEND. I keep track of the child’s development and share this with parents every 6 weeks and the parents are also invited to come along when the SENCo officer is around.

- Measuring children's progress
Constant monitoring of the child's progress. Parents will be informed at every meeting and given a copy of the meetings report. Children's folders with their progress are sent home every 6 weeks (half term).
- Accessibility of the school
The setting is easily accessible for wheelchairs. I have no stairs.
- Inclusion
All children are included in every activity although some children may need more supervision than others. Additional support and more one to one involvement with the child is available. Planning together with parents, SENCo and any additional outside support.
- Transition arrangements
I support children with SEND with their transitions to other settings or school starts by writing an up to date accurate description of where the child is at within the EYFS and any additional helpthat they may require. Parents also get the childrens folders that can be shared with new settings to see what the child has achieved in the time that they have been at my setting.
