Healthcare Travel Costs Scheme

What is the Healthcare Travel Costs Scheme?

The HTCS was set up to provide financial assistance to those patients who do not have a medical need for ambulance transport, but who require assistance with their travel costs. Those entitled to the HTCS can claim for reimbursements if an appointment has been made for their child or other dependent.

Am I eligible?

Patients on low incomes or receiving qualifying benefits or allowances may be reimbursed in part or in full for the costs of their journey, these can include car parking, road and toll charges and public transport costs.

How do I claim?

You should take your receipts, appointment letterĀ or card and proof of your eligibility to a nominated cashier's office to claim your refund. In some hospitals you will need to contact the General Office or Patient Affairs Office. Alternatively PALS will be able to advise you where to go. Alternatively you can complete a claim form which is on the website provided below.
