What is this service?
The Youth Service supports young people, aged 13-19 (up to their 25th birthday if they have additional needs), to develop skills through programmes of positive activities.
There are three youth centres in Redbridge at Loxford, Hainault and Wanstead which are dedicated to giving young people a place to meet, have fun, learn new skills with other young people.
There is a session at each youth centre targeting young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities; the session is for young people with mild to moderate learning disabilities. Young people need to have the ability to socialise with their peers and to understand and the capacity to follow the Youth Service Behaviour Charter.
A prior individual assessment will be required before acceptance for attending Centre’s session.
Activities include, sports, arts, cookery, music , discussion groups, consultation and young people led projects. There are also opportunities to access activities leading to nationally accredited programmes, such as Gateway Award and Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
