Overview

Every child is unique and deserves to be valued and respected. All the children are welcome in my setting and I will make sure all the needs of every single child are met. However, there is no possibility for wheelchair users to attend the setting due to the structure of the house.

My house is quite spacious and most of it is used for childminding: big living room, playroom, conservatory, bedroom for children and big summer house in the garden. I have sensory a tent in the living room with lots of different sensory and heuristic play toys.

Identifying children's needs

Through observations, assessments and planning. Parents are informed during confidential meetings. I work closely with the Local Authority Childminding Development Officer and SEN Advisor whenever a child's special need is identified.

Transition arrangements

I will write a Transition Record about the child:  development stage and all other details about special needs and how they can be supported. I will also arrange a visit with the child to school/nursery to make sure the child is familiar with the new setting and all important information will be passed on.
