Cleft Lip and Palate Association (CLAPA)

CLAPA

Cleft Lip and Palate Association (CLAPA) is the only UK-wide voluntary organisation specifically helping those with and affected by, cleft lip and palate. It provides support for new parents and for people with the condition and their families, from infancy through to adulthood.

All branches are run by people who have themselves benefited from the organisation, often working in partnership with local health professionals.

CLAPA are always looking for enthusiastic, passionate, dedicated volunteers who are willing to give their time to assist CLAPA to carry out local activities, based on their own interests and skills, with support from a CLAPA contact.  Parents and volunteers aged from 17 years can join the fun group of volunteers.  But why volunteer for CLAPA?

  • You will be part of a national charity helping to make a difference to the lives of those affected by cleft lip and/or palate.
  • Volunteers can get involved in a lot of different areas depending on their skills and interests including: public speaking, research, organising activities, taking part in our annual children’s camp(s), awareness raising and the media.
  • You will receive a regular newsletter and training opportunities.
  • It is a great feeling knowing that you are doing something for others and you will also have the opportunity to learn new skills!
