Is there enough childcare in Redbridge?
This page provides information about the research and consultation that we have done to find out if there is enough childcare in Redbridge to meet the needs of parents who want to be able to go to work or to take part in training or education that can lead to work.
Why has Redbridge done a Childcare Sufficiency Assessment (CSA)?
The Childcare Act 2006 places a duty on all Local Authorities to make an assessment of childcare at least every three years. It is one of a number of duties that Local Authorities have that aim to make life better for families.
Ensuring that there is enough childcare can help parents to balance their work and family responsibilities.
We know that good pre-school childcare also gives children a flying start and can help them to do better at school.
Out of school childcare means that parents who are working know that their child is in a safe place and helps children to take part in activities that enable them to build on their knowledge and skills and have fun with their friends.
What does the report say?
`The report shows the key gaps that we have found and what we are going to do to try and make sure that childcare meets the needs of parents.
There is a Summary Report and additional sections that make up the full report for those of you who want to read all the data and research. There is also an Action Plan that sets out what we are going to do next. You can download all of these on the right hand side of the page.
Even though we have finished this research and produced the report and action plan, it is important that we continue to know about parents' experiences of finding and using childcare in Redbridge.
If you are unable to find what you need or you need a little extra support in finding childcare please contact FiND and we'll see if we can help.
