Forced Marriage Unit (FMU) (Foreign and Commonwealth Office)
If you or someone you know is being forced into marriage either in the UK or abroad, you should contact the Forced Marriage Unit (FMU).
The FMU helps and advises those who have experienced forced marriage, or who are worried about being forced into marriage. The FMU's dedicated team of caseworkers understand the issues surrounding forced marriage, including the family pressures and how difficult it can be for victims to talk about these situations. They can offer you confidential support and advice.
Helpline opening hours: Monday to Friday - 9.00am to 5.00pm (out of hours assistance is provided by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s Global Response Centre, contactable on 020 7008 1500).
