Counselling is a type of talking therapy or psychological therapy. It involves talking to a counsellor about your problems. Counsellors are trained to listen sympathetically and can help you deal with any negative thoughts and feelings.  People sometimes use the word counselling to refer to talking therapies in general, but counselling is also a specific type of therapy.

If you feel you need to talk to someone about your feelings in order for you to make sense of them then a counsellor will listen and support you in identifying how you can manage or cope with the issues you are facing. No matter what issue you want to discuss never feel that it is too small or not important.  Counselling has helped many people to deal with a wide variety of issues.
