Free Early Education for Three and Four Year Olds

All three and four year olds are entitled to 15 hours of free early education a week term time until they either go into reception or reach compulsory school age (the term following their fifth birthday). This free entitlement is paid from the term after your child turns three and can be accessed at either a school nursery, day nursery, pre school playgroup or childminder. Please note that not all registered settings provide the free entitlement.

On this page you will find some useful information on nursery education, including details of services available, related guidance pages and quick links to helpful websites.
