About HAF
HAF is the official Holiday Activities & Food programme funded by the Department of Education (DfE).
HAF provides eligible children and young people with a free meal and enriching activities where they can learn new skills and meet new friends.
The HAF programme is provided by a range of organisations who undergo a rigorous procurement process for Redbridge. Some of our partners include early years settings, youth clubs, out of school clubs and training providers. HAF provides:
- Physical Activities including multi-sports
- Creative sessions including music, drama, arts and crafts
- Nutritional workshops
- Trips/Fun days out
Many families and children have greatly benefited from attending Redbridge HAF. Here is some of the feedback we have received from parents:
“My child improved her cycling and cooking skills, and she was able to learn further crafting and on shirts painting skills!”
“My son gained new confidence in meeting and playing with new people. He wasn’t confident before, but attending these sessions has really helped him.”
“My daughter had a fantastic time at the HAF program in the summer holidays. She learned to ride a bike, met new animals, cooked and did tie dye T-shirts. She had an amazing summer.”
When is HAF available?
Our HAF sessions are available as follows:
- 1 week in the Winter holidays
- 1 Week in the Easter holidays
- 4 weeks in the Summer holidays
We usually offer 4 days per week, but this can change depending on the holiday dates available.

Is my child eligible?
Children must meet the following criteria to be eligible for a HAF place:
- In Reception up to Year 11
- In receipt of benefits-related Free School Meals (FSM)
Referrals
The deadline for professional referrals has passed and we are now currently assessing applications.
However, please email us at haf@redbridge.gov.uk if you:
- Are working on behalf of a family who is not eligible for HAF, but have child(ren) in category 1 or 2 of our referrals policy
- Would still like to submit a late referral
Does HAF provide SEND support?
All providers delivering the HAF programme must deliver an inclusive programme for all children and young people in attendance. Where possible, we will support a SEND child or young person’s attendance at a mainstream HAF provision.
If your child attends a Specialist SEND School, and you are eligible for HAF and require a place please email haf@redbridge.gov.uk.
